Ceta Ramkhalawansingh is the volunteer President of the Learnxs Foundation and is the National Chair, The Word on the Street Canada, and the Honorary President, Grange Community Association. She also serves on the board of the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care and the Grange Park Advisory Committee in addition to several other organizations. For nearly 3 decades, prior to retirement, Ceta worked at Toronto City Hall most recently as the corporate manager, of the City’s Diversity Management and Community Engagement programs and led a staff unit in the City Manager’s Office. She has also worked at the Toronto Board of Education and was a lecturer at the University of Toronto, McMaster University and York University. Her previous volunteer commitments include serving as: President, Grange Area Co-operative Homes; President, MATCH International Centre; Vice President, YWCA of Greater Toronto; Board Chair, Cecil Community Centre. She has served on the boards of the University Settlement House, The Word on the Street Toronto, Couchiching Institute on Public Policy, an allocations panel chair for the United Way and a Council Member of the Ontario' Government's Advisory Council on Women's Issues. Her contributions have been recognized with the LEAF/WIN Person’s Day Award (1994), the New Pioneers Award (1999) and the Arbor Award (2000) from the University of Toronto. In 2002, she was appointed an Honorary Member of the Institute of Women’s Studies and Gender Studies at the University of Toronto in recognition of her role as a co-founder of Women’s Studies.
