Gul Joya Jafri
Emerging Voice 2008
Gul Joya Jafri was born in Lahore, Pakistan and raised in Toronto. She wrote her first story when she was six, and imagined she would be a writer when she grew up. Instead, she has pursued an international career, working for the UN and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) in Ottawa and the Middle East. In recent years she has sought out ways to make time for her writing again and is enjoying the creative process. Family Parade is her first published story.
Update:
Since the publication of her story last year, she has worked on her first screenplay and is in the process of completing two new short stories.
