Sugith Varughese’s theatre credits include Tideline (Factory Theatre), Bhopal (Cahoots Theatre) and Indian Ink (CanStage/National Arts Centre). He appeared with Gary Sinese and Armen Meuller-Stahl in Brian De Palma’s Mission to Mars and was a regular on two TV series, An American in Canada and Metropia, as well as over sixty-five other film and television programs and twenty-five radio plays. As a member of the An American in Canada cast, he was nominated for a Gemini award. Most recently he was heard in the cast of CBC Radio’s live-to-air broadcast of Funny Boy directed by Oscar nominee Deepa Mehta.
Also an acclaimed, Gemini-nominated screenwriter, he was named the first screenwriter-in-residence to the Toronto Public Library and has just been named lead trainer for the CTV Diverse Screenwriters program by the Writers Guild of Canada. He is also a 5-time nominee and one-time winner of a Canadian Screenwriters Award from the WGC. As a director, he was the first visible minority accepted to the Canadian Film Centre and the first to have his short film nominated for a Genie. He is listed in Who's Who in Canada, imdb.com and has his own Wikipedia listing which he swears he did not write.
