Accompanied by jazz saxophone and blues guitar, Joseph Maviglia’s poetically charged lyrics fuse with roots, jazz and blues inflections. Maviglia has performed his music and poetry at The University of Calabria (Rende, Italy), The National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa), Harbourfront Centre’s WOMAD Festival , First Night (Toronto), The Milton Acorn Festival (Prince Edward Island), The Nuyorican Poet’s Café (New York City), and The International School of Brussels. His critically acclaimed CD, Memory to Steel, was released by Steelrail Records and his song, "Father, It’s Time," was released on the Juno Award-winning The Gathering. Maviglia is a member of The Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN), PEN Canada/International and The League of Canadian Poets. He is currently at work on his next CD of original compositions.
