Pamela Mordecai

Pamela Mordecai is a Jamaican transplanted to Toronto 10 years ago, has written prize-winning poetry and stories for children as well as adults, and a play commissioned by the Lorraine Kimsa Theatre for Young People called El Numero Uno or the Pig from Lopinot. She has edited/co-edited numerous textbooks and anthologies of poetry and prose. She has published five books for children, a major reference work on Jamaica (with her husband, Martin), and 3 collections of poetry for adults: Journey Poem (1989), De Man (1995), and Certifiable (2001). A new collection, The True Blue of Islands, dedicated to her brother Richard who was murdered in Jamaica on May 30, 2004, is forthcoming from Sandberry Press this fall.
