Sally Ito
WRITER/MENTOR
Sally Ito lives and writes in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She is Japanese Canadian. She has published three books of poetry, Frogs in the Rain Barrel, Season of Mercy and Alert to Glory and a collection of short fiction, Floating Shore. Her most recent book is The Emperor’s Orphans which is a cultural memoir exploring her identity as a Japanese Canadian writer. Ito is also a translator and has co-translated the Japanese children’s poetry of Misuzu Kaneko into English with Michiko Tsuboi for the book, Are You an Echo: The Lost Poetry of Misuzu Kaneko. Ito teaches creative writing at Canadian Mennonite University in Winnipeg.
