Hawa Yusuf

Hawa Yusuf is 20 going onto to 21 years old, she is a journalism student at Centennial College, who loves to read and write in her spare time. Stories are her safe haven. Whenever life got too tough for her, she’d crack open a novel to become someone else, entirely, and live through their story and suddenly her life didn’t seem as bad anymore. Hawa wants the stories she writes to become the safe haven for someone else someday. She believes that stories have a way of helping us connect even if we come from opposite ends of the earth. They hold together the very fabric of what it means to be human. She says: “This opportunity with Diaspora Dialogues, will allow me to tell the stories that I know and see, it will allow me to hone the craft that I love, and perhaps maybe even attain the dream that keeps me awake some very long nights.”
