Mally Zelaya
WRITER/MENTEE
Mally Zelaya is a newly Toronto-based writer, who hails from Winnipeg by way of El Salvador, and has lived, worked, or travelled in two dozen countries. Inspired by oft-unseen global connections, her fiction explores intersectional identities through a transnational lens. She’s a recent graduate of the Rutgers-Newark MFA program in Creative Writing, and she holds a Master of Journalism degree from the University of British Columbia. Her writing has appeared in the Guardian, Cosmopolitan, Al Jazeera, and the Christian Science Monitor, amongst others. In 2012, she won a grant from the International Development Research Centre to produce a documentary in Papua New Guinea.
