Diaspora Dialogues is thrilled to partner with TIFA to produce three engaging author talks at this year’s festival! This collaboration brings together diverse voices to explore topics such as courage, loss, indentity, and belonging through the power of storytelling.
Event Schedule:
Saturday, September 21, 2024, 11:00 AM: “Friendship, Home, and Identity” features Sadi Muktadir’s Land of No Regrets and Edward Lee’s The Laundryman’s Boy. The session will be moderated by acclaimed novelist and screenwriter Shyam Selvadurai.
Saturday, September 21, 2024, 2:30 PM: “Dislocation and Relocation” brings together Nazneen Sheikh, with her latest collection I Left You Behind, and Tasneem Jamal, author of I Never Said That I Was Brave. Moderated by CBC Books’ Ryan B. Patrick.
Sunday, September 22, 2024, 11:00 AM: “On the Outside Looking In” features Chido Muchemwa, author of the upcoming short story collection Who Will Bury You?, and Amal Elsana Alh’jooj, with her memoir Hope Is A Woman’s Name: My Journey as a Bedouin Palestinian Activist in Israel. Moderated by arts and cultural journalist Aparita Bhandari.
