Azin Soltani
WRITER/MENTEE
Azin Soltani is an Iranian-born and Swedish/Canadian-raised poet and songwriter. She writes from a pluralistic viewpoint, shaped by the diaspora experience. Her songs and poetry are an exploration of the human condition, addressing themes of identity and relationships, separation and belonging, growth and self-actualization. Azin shares stories to synthesize myriad perspectives, build bridges across worlds and foster connectivity.
Azin’s musical collaborations have been featured in Toronto’s Music 311 program as well as the YYZ Live Music Series, and landed her a Toronto Independent Music Award nomination.
She holds a Master’s degree in Sociology and graduated Summa Cum Laude from York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a focus on global politics and international relations. Her professional background in the public, private and nonprofit sectors has further bolstered her pluralistic worldview.
