Mai Nguyen was born in Winnipeg in 1988. Her parents were among the 120,000 Vietnamese refugees to arrive in Canada between 1975 and 1982; they now live in Halifax where they own and operate a nail salon. Mai studied journalism at Ryerson University, Toronto, and writes about business, finance and travel as a freelance journalist. Her non-fiction writing has appeared in a number of publications, including Maclean’s, Wired, and Reader’s Digest. She has been the
recipient of writing grants from the Ontario Arts Council and Toronto Arts Council. Everything At Our Fingertips is her first work of fiction in progress. She lives in Toronto.
