Salma Hussain

WRITER/MENTEE
Salma Hussain grew up in the United Arab Emirates and moved to North America when she was thirteen. She lived for a year and a half in Los Angeles, California before moving to Canada. She has studied and worked in the cities of Halifax, Calgary and Montreal, and now
calls Toronto home. Her work has been published in filling Station, Line (formerly West Coast Line), Lichen, Other Voices and Now (Toronto). She is working on a novel primarily driven by the desire to leave behind an authentic portrayal for her Canadian-born and raised daughters of what growing up female in the Middle East felt like and how girls there were then and are today such resilient fighters and heroines.
