Bageshree Vaze is an Indo-Canadian dancer, musician and writer. Raised in St. John’s, NL, she has a Bachelor’s degree (Honours) from Carleton University and a Master’s in Dance (MA) from York University. Bageshree has trained with foremost teachers in dance and music in India including the living legend of Kathak dance Pandit Birju Maharaj. Bageshree is the Artistic Director of Pratibha Arts in Toronto, a charitable organization that promotes unique and diverse artistic expressions, often those with South Asian influences (www.pratibhaarts.com).
As a writer her work has been published in Canadian Theatre Review, Maclean’s, Toronto Life, the Toronto Star, and The Economic and Political Weekly. Her short story ‘Mummy’ was published as part of TSAR Publication’s Her Mother’s Ashes anthology. Bageshree lives in Toronto with her husband, the renowned tabla drum virtuoso Vineet Vyas, and with their daughter Kalashree and son Vihaan.
