David Silverberg founded the now-defunct Suburban Spoken Word in North York, Ontario, and then created Toronto Poetry Slam, where he currently serves as host and artistic director. He has also curated spoken word programming at The Word on the Street, the Luminato Festival of Arts & Creativity, the Brampton Indie Arts Festival, the Words Aloud Festival in Durham, Ont., the Wavelength music series, and many more. He is part of the Toronto poetry troupe Last Call Poets, and his most recent book of poetry is Bags of Wires (LyricalMyrical). He edited an anthology of Canadian spoken word called Mic Check (Quattro Books). He lived in the Bathurst and Steeles area for more than 15 years.
