Born in Tehran, Fereshteh Molavi published a novel, The House of Cloud and Wind, and such works of fiction as The Sunny Fairy and Other Stories. While in Iran, she translated several fictions. A former Persian bibliographer at Sterling Library, Yale University, she has published numerous stories and essays internationally. She appeared in various anthologies, including Speaking in Tongues and TOK. Her dialogue with the Canadian writer Karen Connelly, Listen to the Reed, was published by PEN Canada. Her recently-published books include The Departures of Season, and of Mutts & Men, in Tehran, as well as Those Years, These Essays, in Paris.  Her first book in English, Stories from Tehran, was released in 2018; and her most recent novel, Thirty Shadow Birds, has been published by Inanna Publications in 2019.
