Janika Oza is a writer based in Toronto. She was the winner of the 2019 Malahat Review Open Season Award in Fiction for her short story, “Exile”, and was longlisted for the 2019 CBC Short Story Prize. She is an alumna of Tin House, VONA/Voices, and the One Story Summer Writer’s Conference. Her fiction, non-fiction, and poetry is published or forthcoming in Guernica, The Best Small Fictions Anthology 2019, Into The Void, SmokeLong Quarterly, The Columbia Review, and Hobart, among others. She has an MA in Immigration and Settlement Studies from Ryerson University and works in refugee resettlement. Her mentor was Sharon Bala from our 2020 GTA Mentorship program.
