Meghan Swaby is an actor and emerging playwright. Her first play, Who the Hell is Eleanor? received workshops at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre (Hysteria festival, 2007) and b current’s (rock. paper. sistahz festival, 2009–2010). As an alumna of b current’s rAiz’n ensemble, she has collaborated in the following collectively devised creations: The Beauty Project (New Waves Festival, 2011), The Center (Summerworks, 2009), and 7th Gen, which received online publication on Diaspora Dialogues’ Shorthand zine (June 2012).
In 2010, Meghan participated in Nightwood Theatre’s Write from the Hip program which culminated with a staged reading of her play, Venus’ Daughter in the Groundswell Festival (2011). Since then, Meghan has been part of Obsidian Theatre’s Playwrights Unit, where she continues to develop Venus’ Daughter and is currently part of Obsidian Theatre’s Development Series. Meghan has a BFA in Acting from the University of Windsor.
