Vania Selvaggi was born in Toronto to Italian immigrants and is a first-generation Canadian. She grew up in Rexdale in the 1970s which was then a primarily English-Canadian neighbourhood and this isolation has informed both her fiction and non-fiction writing. Vania is currently working on her first collection of short stories and will be graduating from the Creative Writing Certificate Program offered through University of Toronto, School of Continuing Education Studies in the fall of 2012. She is also an active member of Alex Keegan’s Bootcamp—“a tough internet writing school.” Recently, she was long-listed for the CBC Canada Writes Contest 2012, and received an Honourary Mention in the Good News Toronto True Story Contest, 2012.
