Join Diaspora Dialogues at Word on the Street for a “Writing Our Future: Representation in YA” panel.

As a society, instilling a love of reading and literature in children is deemed to be important. But more often than not, the books available to young Canadians don’t have characters that look like them, or storylines they can relate to.

On Sunday, September 23, 2018, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Diaspora Dialogues invites you to the Toronto Book Awards tent for a riveting conversation about the state of diversity in YA fiction, the resulting impact on children and society, and the journeys of authors and writers who’ve published books in the genre. Featuring:

  • Author Adwoa Badoe
  • Author Tanaz Bhathena
  • Author David A. Robertson
  • Transatlantic Literary Agency’s Amy Tompkins
  • Moderated by: Quill & Quire’s Shanda Deziel

Sunday, September 23
Toronto Book Awards Tent, Harbourfront Centre
10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

RSVP
Cost: Free
