Moyo Monilari was born to a family of seven and came to Canada at the age of six. Her transition from Nigeria to Canada was difficult; but yet she persevered and maintained a positive attitude. Moyo started to write and perform poems in high school and it gave her a forum to express her uniqueness through art. Her work has been published by the Fire Fighters Association of Ontario as well as various newspapers and articles. Throughout high school, Moyo worked hard academically and achieved excellence by receiving an entrance scholarship to university from the Malton Black Development Association and York University. She later graduated from York majoring in Criminology and a minor in History. Moyo aspires to be a criminal attorney where she can use art to influence those who have exhausted the Criminal Justice System. Her ambition, tenacity and drive to succeed will enable her to excel within her community.
